"Taking the first step to reach out for treatment can be the hardest, but it is the most vital step for the healing process to begin."
- Joy Moody
Q: What is your role at The Transition House?
I am a Clinical Social Worker at the St. Cloud outpatient facility. I began my relationship with The Transition House as a student intern at the men’s residential program. My current role is lead clinician for the 90-day Women’s PHP program.
Q: Do you have any specialties or areas of expertise?
I facilitate group therapy sessions as well as individual sessions with clients. I also see clients outside of the women’s program, including children, adolescents, adults and couples. I graduated with my Master’s from University of Southern California with a sub-concentration in military social work.
Q: What would you say is the first or most important step for anyone who may be struggling with substance use disorder or mental health issues?
The most important step for someone who is struggling with a substance use disorder or any other mental health issue is to embrace self-care and ask for help. Taking the first step to reach out for treatment can be the hardest, but it is the most vital step for the healing process to begin.
Q: Do you have any hobbies you enjoy in your free time?
My hobbies include anything that keeps me active. I train and run obstacle course races as much as possible when I am not engaging in my children’s activities, and I am a proud member of Steeler nation!
